RCRA Definitions of Solid and Hazardous Waste Automated Guidance

EH-43 logo

The RCRA Definitions of Solid and Hazardous Waste Automated Guidance is a program designed to help users determine whether a suspect waste meets the regulatory definitions of a "solid" or a "hazardous" waste under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). A question and answer format is used to guide the user through the regulations that might apply to the material.

The questions and answers include all major information from the RCRA regulations found in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 261 (40 CFR Part 261). In some cases, regulatory language has been supplemented with language from EPA rulemaking preambles.

About the Program

The RCRA Definitions of Solid and Hazardous Waste program was originally developed as a Macintosh hypertext application. However, when significant changes were made to the regulatory definitions of RCRA solid and hazardous waste, the program was updated and moved to the Windows platform. The current program was created using Asymetrix Toolbook Version 4.0. The program may be downloaded, installed, and run locally on any PC running Windows.

Download the RCRA Definitions Automated Guidance

The current version of RCRA Definitions of Solid and Hazardous Waste is Version 1.0 (4/14/97). To download and install the current version on your PC, complete the following:

  • Click here to download the self-extracting archive file for installation on Windows 95 or NT (2,251,709 bytes).

  • After the archive has been downloaded, use the Windows Explorer or File Manager program to execute the archive self-extractor. (In the Windows Explorer or File Manager Toolbar, highlight the archive file, then select "Run" from the File Menu)

  • The archive will automatically install the program on your computer. The setup program will allow you to customize the installation.
